What's the best OS?
FreeBSD is the best OS in the world. Here are some reasons why:
- It's free
- It's buildable from source
- All UNIX software just works on it
- The ports system allows you to install almost any thing easily
- It's secure
- It is small
- It's fast
I LOVE FREEBSD.
This post was inspired by the fact that my 2.8Ghz Intel FreeBSD 6.0 Server reboots in 41 seconds!
That includes time to stop everything until I can SSH back into it. Its kernel is all of 3.5MB, btw.

While I'm at it: here's a uptime from another FreeBSD box I have:
> uptime 11:15PM up 124 days, 3:27, 2 users, load averages: 0.79, 0.71, 0.66
Did I mention that I love FreeBSD?
